Mario's Galactic Adventure Teaser Arrives, Introducing Fresh Faces Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Voice Cast

Nintendo and Illumination unveiled the debut comprehensive teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie on Wednesday. It was showcased in a dedicated Nintendo presentation that centered on the soon-to-release cartoon movie.

Following up on the 2023 blockbuster The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this fresh entry will transport Mario to the distant reaches of the cosmos. In his journey, he meets a fresh princess character and a powerful new opponent in Bowser Jr., the son of the King of the Koopas.

A Cosmic Adventure Drawing from Classic Games

Much like the Wii console classics that serve as its inspiration, Mario will depart from the well-known surroundings of the Mushroom Kingdom to travel across the galaxy. During his grand adventure, he will encounter once more some recognizable characters, for instance the Luma, a fan favorite from the previous film.

Yet it looks like Mario and his sibling Luigi will face a fresh enemy in the form of Bowser's irate young son, who apparently commands metallic abilities. Worth mentioning, the preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not exclusively centered on Galaxy-themed scenes; it also features references to other beloved games like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.

Star-Studded Voice Cast Returns and Expands

The movie will welcome back of the initial voice actors, including Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.

Fresh faces in the lineup for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will bring to life Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to embody Bowser Jr. It was announced by Illumination CEO Chris Meledandri.

A Big Year for Mario

The upcoming Mario film is planned to debut near the 40th anniversary of the first Super Mario Bros. title. Beyond the film, 2026 looks set to be a major period for Mario and his companions.

Nintendo has a trio of new releases officially announced for the upcoming year, featuring Mario Tennis Fever, a version for Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a new Yoshi platformer titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.

Release Date Confirmed

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is officially set to be released on April 3, 2026.
