Egypt's Foreign Minister Calls On the Palestinian Group to Accept the US Gaza Strip Proposal and Disarm

Cairo and Doha are currently engaged in attempts to convince the Palestinian faction to accept Donald Trump's ultimatum to stop the war in Gaza, according to the Egyptian top diplomat.

Mounting Pressure on Hamas

Badr Abdelatty stated that the opportunity is now for the organization to lay down its weapons and refrain from offering Israeli forces any excuse to persist in its operations in the region, where 28 Palestinians were fatally struck on Friday.

“Hamas should not be used as an excuse for the relentless killing of innocents, a situation that has worsened significantly since last year,” the minister stated.

He explained that Egypt is “coordinating with our brothers in Qatar and with our colleagues in Turkey in order to convince Hamas to respond positively to this plan”.

The initiative would require Hamas to:

• Return the hostages still held from the October incident, including two dozen are believed to be living

In exchange, Israel would:

• Gradually withdraw its troops from the territory

Total casualties from Israel’s war in the strip has reached more than sixty-two thousand Palestinians killed and about 170,000 injured, as reported by the medical sources.
